The crisis rocking the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) appears to be assuming another dimension as supporters of the ousted National chairman of the party, Senator Alli Modu Sheriff across the south west have dumped the party for Mega Party Nigeria.

Some of the decampees are from the Omo Ilu Foundation, the mobilisation arm of Buruji Kashamu political organisation owned by Senator Kashamu Buruji who represents Ogun East senatorial district in the National assembly.

The members expressed regret over the Supreme Court judgement which sacked Sen. Sheriff’s leadership of the party and said that it was no longer possible for them to cohabit with the current P.D.P leadership which they described as ‘vampires’.

The former PDP members stated this on Wednesday at MPN office in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital where they also accused Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of not treating Sen. Sheriff’s group with respect following its victorious emergence at the supreme court.

They were led by a former PDP chairman in Ondo State, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, and the Director General, Omo Ilu Foundation, Mr. Leke Adekoya.

Their leader, Mr Alabi, stated accused the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose and Senator Iyiola Omisore substituting the of names of members of the state executive council with their own supporters at the headquarters of the party in Abuja.

The group which expressed displeasure over the verdict of the Supreme Court said the purpose of the struggle was to stamp out impunity in the PDP by virtue of its present leadership.

Mr. Ebenezer Alabi and Mr Leke Adekoya said the PDP members and loyalists who believe in the leadership of Sheriff have decided to move en masse to join forces with the Mega Party of Nigeria which was registered in 2010 as Mega Progressives Party.

According to the group, the Mega Progressives Party will be transformed into the new name; Mega Party of Nigeria to show the strength and the name will change officially next week.

This development confirms earlier speculations in some quarters that Sen.Alli Modu Sheriff and his members are likely going to dump the PDP if the apex court ruling is not in their favour.
