German police have on Wednesday apprehended 12 migrants including Nigerians hiding under a
moving train trying to enter Germany illegally.
Reports say that seven adults and five unaccompanied minors climbed out of the train,
travelling from the Italian city of Verona to Munich near the Austrian border.
The migrants were accosted after police found them in a spot check using heat detection
cameras in the southern town of Raubling.
The arrested migrants were said to be Nigerians, Somalians and Ivoirians. According to report,
some were seen wearing only shorts and T-Shirts and had hidden under lorries transported on
the train. One had an injured leg and was unable to walk unaided.
Police in the city of Rosenheim said they were finding an increasing number of migrants seeking
to enter the country illegally.
Scharf said that they had been an increase in the number of migrants trying to cross to Germany
adding that about 20 were found in August and more than 100 in July.
The officer also noted that the migrants might be suffering from Hypothermia as some were
already freezing cold and also in poor condition
Officials have called on emergency services to that effect.
