Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator

Ali Modu Sheriff, has advised the publicity secretary of the Senator Ahmed

Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye

to stop parading himself as spokesman of the PDP.

In a statement released by the party’s acting publicity secretary, Benard Mikko,

Sen. Sheriff said Prince Adeyeye could not speak for the PDP or use its logo

and franchise without the authority and permission of the national leadership of

the party.

He condemned what he called desperation on the part of the Sen. Ahmed

Makarfi led faction of the PDP at a time the efforts of the Peace and

Reconciliation Committee of the party under the chairmanship of Gov. Seriake

Dickson of Bayelsa state was ongoing.

The embattled National chairman appealed to all party faithful and loyal

members of the party as well as all strategic stakeholders to remain calm and

committed to the PDP ideals.

He particularly urged all PDP members to have faith in the ongoing Peace and

Reconciliation efforts as the panacea for the much desired united and cohesive

party waiting for the mandate of Nigerians to tackle the developmental deficits

and other adverse conditions being faced in Nigeria.

Prince Adeyeye had, in a statement issued on behalf of the National Caretaker

Committee on Saturday said that the claim of Mr. Mikko as a member of PDP

National Working Committee (NWC) was illegal.

Prince Adeyeye said the claim was contrary to the judgment by the Appeal

Court on February 14 which ordered reversal to status quo.

He said no meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) or National

Executive Committee (NEC) was held to nominate, appoint or confirm anyone

on the Sen. Ali Modu Sherif leadership faction for the positions they presently

lay claim to.
