The Chairman / Founder of DAAR Communications and owner of African Independent Television
(AIT), High Chief Dr. Raymond Anthony Dokpesi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
today (Monday, 5 th of June) joined some notable politicians to unveil a new political party – the
Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) .
Former chairman of the Labour Party, Mr Dan Anyanwu, was also at the occasion which is ongoing at
Reiz Continental Hotels in Abuja.
Before today’s event, there had been wide speculation that disgruntled members of the Peoples’
Democratic Party (PDP) were planning to establish a new political party.
The PDP slid into a crisis after it lost the 2015 presidential election to the incumbent, President
Muhammadu Buhari. Many of its members also left the party for the All Progressives Congress and
many more have threatened to defect to other parties if Senator Ali Modu Sheriff wins the disputed
PDP National leadership tussle which is pending before the Apex court.
The slogan of the new Advanced Peoples’ Democratic Alliance (APDA) is “Stronger Together”, and
Mallam Shitu Mohammed Kabiru is its interim national chairman.
The National Executive Committee of the party is yet to be constituted.
