Mrs. Dorathy Mato today formally took her oaths of office and allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a member of the Green chamber of the National Assembly representing Vandeikiya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State.
Speaker, House of Representatives Honourable Yakubu Dogara presided over the official swearing-in ceremony of Mrs. Dorathy Mato as a replacement for Hon. Herman Hembe.
Hon. Herman Hembe, a former Chairman, House Committee on Federal Capital Territory, was sacked by the Supreme Court on June 23.
The court decided that Mrs. Dorathy Mato was the validly elected candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Vandeikiya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State.
The inauguration of Mrs. Mato came after much delay by the House.
It would be recalled that Mr. Hembe had approached the Supreme Court for the second time to refer the case to a lower court for retrial after the apex court ordered him to vacate his former seat and return all monies he earned in the House of Representatives since 2015.
The Supreme Court had also awarded the sum of one million naira against Mr. Hembe in favour of Mrs. Dorathy Mato, the defendant.
