Students’ accommodation in the University of Lagos received an additional 502 bed spaces courtesy of the University of Lagos Women Society (ULWS)
The new 2 storey building female hostel built under a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) agreement between the ULWS and the University’s Management was commissioned by the vice chancellor professor Rahamon Bello as part of his valedictory events.
Performing the commissioning, Professor Bello described the society as a unique non-governmental organization due to its tremendous commitment to the university.
Professor Bello gave kudos to the society for impacting positively on the development of the university especially the female folk.
In her address of welcome, the president of the society, Mrs Momudat Bello said that the initiative was born out of the need to alleviate the problem of acute shortage of accommodation on campus for students of the institution especially females.
Mrs. Bello added that the BOT agreement is for a period of 21 years after which the hostel will be transferred to the university.
She expressed appreciation to the university council and management for constant support as well as those who donated towards the project.
The edifice located within the premises of the University and funded through loans from banks and donations comprises 2 blocks of 2-storey buildings with all rooms ensuite.
Other facilities to be enjoyed by occupants include 24 hours uninterrupted power supply, 24hours internet service, spacious and ventilated rooms as well as one man-room which has an additional private water heater with air conditioner.
