The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted a TV licence to the University of Lagos, the first campus television station to operate in Nigeria.
Chairman of UNILAG Radio and TV, Professor. Ralph Akinfeleye confirmed the approval in Lagos on Thursday.
According to him, the Director- General of (NBC) Mallam Is’haq Modibo Kawu conveyed the approval to University early this morning.
It was jubilation galore all over campus when the news was broken. The approval made UNILAG the first University in Nigeria to be granted a licence to operate a TV station.
It would be recalled that UNILAG Mass Communication Department also pioneered the first campus radio station in Nigeria.
