UNILAG MATRICULATES NEW STUDENTS FOR 2017/2018 ACADEMIC SESSION

The University of First Choice and Nation's Pride, University of Lagos has matriculated about 7,000 fresh UTME and Direct Entry students for the 2017/2018 academic session.

The Secretary to the Council and Registrar of the University of Lagos, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Ipaye made this
known while administering an oath on the newly admitted students at Jelili Omotola ( Multi-Purpose)
Hall of the institution, on Friday February 16, 2018.

Dr. Ipaye reminded the newly matriculated students that university is based on the tripod of teaching,
learning and research. She thereafter advised them to focus on their education now and social activities
later after the graduation.

After declaring the matriculation programme opened, the Chairman of the occassion and Vice
Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe mandated the students to abide by
the oath taking during matriculation and prayed for them to be future leaders of this country.

Professor Ogundipe also urged them to be diligent, discipline, focus, prayerful and be a source of joy to
their parents.

The Vice Chancellor thereby advised them to shun Cultism, Drug abuse, Prostitute and other forms of
social vices as doing this, will make them excel in their academic career.

Meanwhile, Miss Ekarume Blessing Eseroghene from department of Petroleum and Gas, Faculty of
Engineering thanked the Vice Chancellor and the entire Management staff of the university on behalf of
the newly admitted students for organising a befitting Orientation and Matriculation programme for
them.

In the meantime, a didactic short play about a brilliant female student, Aduke whose dream of becoming the best student from university was truncated by Timothy. Timothy tricked Aduke through social media and later impregnated her.

Parents, friends and well wishers attended the matriculation programme to felicitate with their loved
ones.
