The Chairman, UNILAG Media Centre and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Muyiwa Falae
has advocated the need for strategic partnerships and collaborations among African countries.
Speaking today while hosting a delegation from the Campus Broadcasting Service of the University
of Cape Coast, Ghana, Prof Falae hinged his advocacy on the need to boost the image and change the
negative perception of the African continent before the rest of the globe.

He announced the readiness of the UNILAG Media Centre, a media conglomerate of the University of
Lagos, to go into partnership with the Campus Broadcasting Service of the University of Cape Coast
for the purpose of setting standards for campus radio and television broadcasting services in Nigeria,
Ghana and the whole of Africa.

Prof. Falae who spoke glowingly about the Cape Coast University said, when operational, the
Memorandum of Understanding which would be signed by the Vice Chancellor of UNILAG,
Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe and the Board chair of the Campus Broadcasting Service of the
University of Cape Coast, Ghana, Prof Peter Grant, will facilitate staff and students’ enhancement
through various exchange programmes, content exchange and other areas of mutual interest and
professional relevance.

In their separate remarks, Prof. Grant who led the University of Cape Coast delegation, the Manager,
Atlantic FM, Mr Kwabena Antwi-Konado and the Deputy Manager; Mr Daniel Opoku showered
encomium on the University of Lagos and the management of the UNILAG media centre for what
they described as a hub of excellent broadcasting service.

The trio noted that Atlantic FM shares same feat with UNILAG radio as the first Campus radio station
in Ghana, a feat which makes the collaboration between the UNILAG media centre and the CBS,
University of Cape Coast imperative.
The delegation was accorded a facility tour of the UNILAG media centre during which they
commended members of staff for their dexterity and sense of commitment to duty, while they
expressed readiness to launch into partnership with the UNILAG media centre, one which Prof Falae
assured would be fully explored.
Meanwhile, the Wife of the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola was also
at the UNILAG Media Centre.
She commended the University of Lagos for its contribution to education and National development
and reassured of her commitment towards securing the rights, safety, security and proper upbringing
of every child irrespective of gender or background.

Mrs. Fashola who was received by the wife of the UNILAG Vice Chancellor and President of the
UNILAG Women Society, Mrs. Oluwaseun Ogundipe also charged members of the public to be of
the right attitude and orientation so as to ensure the entrenchment of proper values, good governance
and quality leadership across the country.
